I am Irish and am writing poetry since 2010. I particularly love haiku, a Japanese form of writing. A lot of my work has been published online and in print. I love to paint - mainly water-colour. I enjoy nature, flora and fauna. In 2015, I started Card Making with cross stitch and many other materials. I craft a lot now that I am retired. I love to combine art and crafts with painting and writing.

Retiro Park, Madrid
We chose a table by the lake,
delighting in warm sunshine.
Cafe con leche
vino tinto,
we basked in affection
under a gliding sun.
A lone saxophone player
warbled plaintive tunes,
stark contrast
to a rapturous day,
the air freckled
with light laughter.
It was but a February day,
yet it felt like summer.
Glossy palm trees
waved in the breeze.
It was a flip flop day
in Madrid.
For my emigrant daughter Sarah visiting her in February 2011.

My daughter is 27 and a wonderful person. She did a Law degree, then a masters in Psychoanalysis and TEFL course. She is teaching in Madrid since January this year in a montessori school, she loves it. She will be home next week for holidays, can't wait to be with her, shopping etc.......Thanks for your comments Rachael xx
ReplyDeleteI did a TEFL PGCE and an MA too, in English Languag though. When I lived abroad I so looked forward to my trips home and girl time with mum, enjoy
